Step 1 - Choosing A Domain Name

Your 'domain name' is the address that users will use to get to your website. It is completely unique to you. Choosing the right domain is key, so you should really do some research before registering your new domain. We generally advise that you select a domain that is:

- Related to either your business or your brand. MonsterMegs uses a domain name that relates to our brand.

- A reasonable length. The fewer characters your users need to enter, the more easily they will be able to get to your website.

- Relatively unique. Avoid choosing a domain that is too similar to another as this can confuse your users!

- The right kind of extension. 'Extension' refers to the last part of the domain with the '.' character, for example '.com', '.net' and '.org'. Different extensions are managed by different 'registries', and some restrict what kind of website you can use them for.

Step 2 - Choosing A Web Hosting Package

Choosing the right web hosting package is very important – choosing a package with too few resources could mean that your website is unavailable due to lack of resources, choosing a package with too many usually means that you're not getting the most out of your money! The two main differences in packages are:

- Web Space. Your website files are stored on our servers. This includes HTML pages, images, videos and any other files you may require. The bigger the total size of the files you will be storing, the more disk space you will require.

- Bandwidth. When users visit your website they will downloading files from your website. The more visitors that visit and the larger the size of the files they will be downloading – the more bandwidth you will require.
