Internet Relay Chat (IRC)

Use of Internet Relay Chat on any of our shared or dedicated servers is explicitly forbidden. This includes, but is not limited to, running any clients, bots, redirection services (proxies), or servers, of any kind.

Chat Applications

All interactive chat web applications are strictly prohibited on MonsterMegs' servers. This includes but is not limited to chat applications written in PHP, Perl, CGI, Python, Ruby, etc. Any web application that provides 'real-time' chat is not permitted. Shoutboxes, chatboxes, live chat/live help (such as but not limited to LiveZilla) and other web based chat programs are prohibited.

Resource Usage

All accounts are required to use as little server resources as possible. Because server resources such as CPU and memory are shared resources, excessive use of these resources can interfere with or completely prevent normal service operation for other Customers. MonsterMegs reserves the right to suspend or terminate Services on any account that, at its sole discretion, is mistreating or consuming excessive amount of server resources causing server performance issues at any moment without previous warning, and for any or no reason.

Note: these limits vary for every web hosting plan, refer to your web hosting plan for the correct limits.
User may not:
  1. Use 25% or more of system resources for longer then 90 seconds on shared/reseller services. There are numerous activities that could cause such problems; these include: CGI scripts, FTP, PHP, HTTP, etc.
  2. Run stand-alone, unattended server-side processes at any point in time on the server. This includes any and all daemons, such as IRCD.
  3. Run any type of web spider or indexer (including Google Cash / AdSpy) on shared/reseller services.
  4. Run any software that interfaces with an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) network.
  5. Run any bit torrent application, tracker, or client. You may link to legal torrents off-site, but may not host or store them on our shared/reseller services.
  6. Participate in any file-sharing/peer-to-peer activities
  7. Run any gaming servers such as counter-strike, half-life, battlefield1942, etc
  8. Run cron entries with intervals of less than 5 minutes.
  9. Run any MySQL queries longer than 60 seconds. MySQL tables should be indexed appropriately.
  10. When using PHP include functions for including a local file, include the local file rather than the URL. Instead of include("http://yourdomain.com/include.php") use include("include.php")
  11. To help reduce usage, do not force html to handle server-side code (like php and shtml).
  12. Only use https protocol when necessary; encrypting and decrypting communications is noticeably more CPU-intensive than unencrypted communications.

You must take reasonable security precautions. You must protect the confidentiality of your password, and you should change your password periodically.

Bulk Commercial E-Mail

You must obtain MonsterMegs' advance approval for any bulk commercial e-mail, which will not be given unless you are able to demonstrate all of the following to MonsterMegs' reasonable satisfaction:

  • Your intended recipients have given their consent to receive e-mail via some affirmative means, such as an opt-in procedure;
  • Your procedures for soliciting consent include reasonable means to ensure that the person giving consent is the owner of the e-mail address for which the consent is given;
  • You retain evidence of the recipient's consent in a form that may be promptly produced on request, and you honor recipient's and MonsterMegs' requests to produce consent evidence within 72 hours of receipt of the request.

  • You have procedures in place that allow a recipient to easily revoke their consent - such as a link in the body of the e-mail, or instructions to reply with the word "Remove" in the subject line. Revocations of consent are honored within 72 hours, and you notify recipients that their revocation of their consent will be honored in 72 hours;
  • You must post an abuse@**yourdomain.com** e-mail address on the first page of any Web site associated with the e-mail, you must register that address at abuse.net, and you must promptly respond to messages sent to that address;
  • You must have a Privacy Policy posted for each domain associated with the mailing;
  • You have the means to track anonymous complaints;
  • You may not obscure the source of your e-mail in any manner. Your e-mail must include the recipients e-mail address in the body of the message or in the "TO" line of the e-mail; and
  • You otherwise comply with the CAN SPAM Act and other applicable law.

These policies apply to messages sent using your MonsterMegs service, or to messages sent from any network by you or any person on your behalf that directly or indirectly refer the recipient to a site hosted via your MonsterMegs service. In addition, you may not use a third party e-mail service that does not practice similar procedures for all its customers.

MonsterMegs may test and otherwise monitor your compliance with its requirements, including requesting opt-in information from a random sample of your list at any time.

Unsolicited E-Mail

We take a zero tolerance stance against sending of unsolicited e-mail, bulk emailing, and spam. "Safe lists" and purchased lists will be treated as spam. Any user who sends out spam will have their account terminated with or without notice.

Sites advertised via SPAM (Spamvertised) may not be hosted on our servers. This provision includes, but is not limited to SPAM sent via fax, phone, postal mail, email, instant messaging, or usenet/newsgroups. No organization or entity listed in the ROKSO may be hosted on our servers. Any account which results in our IP space being blacklisted will be immediately suspended and/or terminated.

MonsterMegs reserves the right to require changes or disable as necessary any web site, account, database, or other component that does not comply with its established policies, or to make any such modifications in an emergency at its sole discretion.
